Performance, Opening of the Exhibition „Between pixel and pigment. Hybrid painting in post-digital times„, 06.07.2024

The performance series “Stretching the Notion of Painting” questions painting as a sustainable, static medium and instead presents painting as dynamic and ephemeral. In painted costumes made of elastic fabrics, we stretch and distort the images.
For the opening of the exhibition “Between Pixel and Pigment”, we have produced two new costumes that refer to the work of Charlotte Johannesson. Her digital and analog works shown in this exhibition use the translation between web techniques and digital graphics as a medium of counterculture.
This visual form of translation between digital and analog media is also the starting point for our performance. As a three-dimensional appearance, we extend the medium of painting into the room and imitate virtual spaces and their possibilities for digital painting, such as spatial dimension, animation and movement.
